Cyanoacrylate Closure (Glue)
Modern medical-grade glue is used to seal the affected vein from within — no heat, no compression stockings needed, with very fast recovery and excellent long-term results.
What is Cyanoacrylate Closure (Glue)?
Cyanoacrylate Closure (medical glue) is a modern, minimally invasive treatment for varicose veins where a specialised medical-grade glue is delivered through a thin catheter to seal the diseased vein from inside. Unlike heat-based techniques (EVLA, RFA), this method does not require tumescent anaesthesia along the vein course, often does not need compression stockings afterwards, and offers a remarkably comfortable patient experience. Dr. Tejasree Vengala performs cyanoacrylate vein closure at Lux Hospitals, Hyderabad, for selected patients with truncal varicose veins.
How the Procedure Works
Ultrasound Mapping & Local Anaesthesia
The diseased veins are mapped using Doppler ultrasound. Local anaesthesia is given only at the catheter entry point.
Catheter Insertion
A thin catheter is gently advanced into the diseased vein under ultrasound guidance through a single small puncture.
Glue Delivery
Small, controlled doses of medical-grade cyanoacrylate glue are delivered along the vein, sealing it from inside in segments.
Manual Compression
Brief manual compression is applied during glue delivery to ensure complete vein closure.
Discharge & Quick Return
Patients walk immediately, are discharged within 30–60 minutes, and most return to normal activity the same day.
