Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA)
Modern laser treatment for varicose veins — laser energy is delivered through a small fibre to seal the diseased vein from inside, with minimal pain, very small entry wounds and a quick return to walking.
What is Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA)?
Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA) is a modern, minimally invasive day-care treatment for varicose veins. A thin laser fibre is inserted into the diseased vein under ultrasound guidance, and laser energy is delivered to seal the vein from inside without any cuts or stripping. Blood is then naturally redirected through healthy veins. EVLA offers excellent long-term results, very small entry wounds, and a remarkably quick return to walking and routine activities. Dr. Tejasree Vengala performs EVLA at Lux Hospitals, Hyderabad, for varicose veins of all severity levels with high success rates.
How the Procedure Works
Ultrasound Mapping & Anaesthesia
The diseased veins are mapped using Doppler ultrasound. Local tumescent anaesthesia is given along the vein course.
Catheter Insertion
A small needle puncture is made, and a thin laser fibre is gently advanced into the diseased vein under ultrasound guidance.
Laser Energy Delivery
Controlled laser energy is delivered as the fibre is slowly withdrawn, sealing the diseased vein along its entire length.
Treatment of Branches
Visible bulging surface veins are treated in the same sitting using ambulatory phlebectomy or foam sclerotherapy if needed.
Compression & Discharge
Compression stockings are applied. Patients walk within 30 minutes and are discharged the same day with quick return to routine.
