Lipoma Excision (Open)
Standard surgical removal of a lipoma through a small incision over the lump — complete removal of the fatty tumour along with its capsule, with quick recovery and minimal scarring.
What is Lipoma Excision (Open)?
Open Lipoma Excision is the most reliable surgical method for removing a lipoma — a soft, benign fatty lump that develops under the skin. The lipoma is removed completely along with its surrounding capsule through a small, well-placed incision, ensuring it does not come back in the same area. The procedure is typically performed under local anaesthesia as a day-care procedure, with most patients returning to normal activities the same day. Dr. Tejasree Vengala performs lipoma excision at Lux Hospitals, Hyderabad, with attention to clean technique and excellent cosmetic results.
How the Procedure Works
Local Anaesthesia & Marking
The lipoma is marked while the patient is awake and in a comfortable position. Local anaesthesia is given around and beneath the lump.
Skin Incision
A small incision is made directly over the lipoma, planned along natural skin lines for the best cosmetic outcome.
Lipoma Dissection
The lipoma is gently separated from surrounding tissues, and the entire mass is removed along with its capsule.
Haemostasis & Closure
Bleeding is carefully controlled. Deep tissues are closed with absorbable sutures, and skin is closed with fine sutures or skin glue.
Discharge & Same-Day Return
A simple dressing is applied. Patients go home within a few hours and resume light routine activities the same day.
