Minimal-Incision Lipoma Extraction
Modified technique using a very small incision to extract small or medium-sized lipomas — gives an excellent cosmetic result with minimal scarring, ideal for cosmetically sensitive areas.
What is Minimal-Incision Lipoma Extraction?
Minimal-Incision Lipoma Extraction is a refined surgical technique to remove small to medium-sized lipomas through a very small incision — usually 5–10 mm long. The lipoma is gently squeezed and extracted out through the small opening, giving an excellent cosmetic result with minimal scarring. The technique is particularly valuable for lipomas in cosmetically sensitive areas such as the face, neck, arms, and visible parts of the body. Dr. Tejasree Vengala performs minimal-incision lipoma extraction at Lux Hospitals, Hyderabad, with attention to clean technique and patient comfort.
How the Procedure Works
Local Anaesthesia & Marking
The lipoma is carefully marked, and local anaesthesia is given around and beneath the lump.
Tiny Skin Incision
A very small incision (5–10 mm) is made directly over the lipoma, hidden along natural skin lines.
Capsule Mobilisation
The lipoma capsule is gently separated from surrounding tissues using fine instruments through the small opening.
Extraction
The lipoma is gently squeezed and pulled out through the small incision in one piece, along with its capsule.
Closure & Discharge
The tiny incision is closed with one or two fine sutures or simply with skin glue, leaving a minimal scar. Patients return home the same day.
