Stapled Hemorrhoidopexy (PPH / MIPH)
Modern stapler-based technique that lifts and repositions prolapsed haemorrhoids while removing excess tissue — significantly less pain than conventional surgery and faster recovery.
What is Stapled Hemorrhoidopexy (PPH / MIPH)?
Stapled Hemorrhoidopexy, also known as PPH (Procedure for Prolapse and Hemorrhoids) or MIPH (Minimally Invasive Procedure for Hemorrhoids), is a modern surgical technique using a circular stapler to lift prolapsed haemorrhoids back into their normal position while removing a ring of excess tissue. Because the staple line is placed above the dentate line where there is no pain sensation, recovery is significantly more comfortable than conventional hemorrhoidectomy. As a female proctologist in Hyderabad, Dr. Tejasree Vengala performs MIPH at Lux Hospitals, Hyderabad, offering quick recovery and discreet, dignified care.
How the Procedure Works
Anaesthesia & Positioning
Surgery is performed under spinal or general anaesthesia. The patient is positioned in lithotomy position.
Circular Anal Dilator Insertion
A specialised anal dilator is inserted to clearly visualise the prolapsed haemorrhoidal tissue.
Purse-String Suture
A circular purse-string suture is placed in the rectal mucosa about 4 cm above the dentate line.
Stapler Application
A circular stapler is used to remove a ring of mucosa and submucosa, lifting the haemorrhoids back into their normal position and creating a stapled anastomosis.
Recovery & Discharge
Patients are usually discharged within 24 hours with clear post-operative advice, structured pain management, and dietary guidance.
Outcomes
Who Needs This Treatment?
- →Significantly less pain than conventional hemorrhoidectomy
- →Lifts and repositions prolapsed haemorrhoids effectively
- →Quick recovery — return to work in 5–7 days
- →No external wounds in the anal area
- →Excellent option for circumferential prolapse
- →Discreet, sensitive care by a female proctologist
Stapled hemorrhoidopexy is a thoughtful operation — instead of cutting away the prolapsed tissue, we lift it back where it belongs. For the right grade 3 or grade 4 piles, especially with circumferential prolapse, the recovery experience is in a different league from conventional surgery.
